Boxycharm January 2017

Welcome back to my blog, or if you are new here, I’m so excited you stopped by.  I hope you stay a while, laugh a little and maybe even like, comment and subscribe so you don’t miss out on future posts/vlogs & utter randomness.

Today’s post is about the January 2017 Boxycharm subscription box.  If you haven’t been following me for too long you may have missed the post where I reviewed all of the beauty subscription bags/boxes I’ve tried.

Check that out here

If you are not familiar, Boxycharm is a monthly beauty box subscription in which you will receive 4 to 5 FULL SIZE beauty items instead of the delux mini or sample sizes you typically receive in the many other subscriptions.  The items are mostly make up related but can also include skincare and beauty tools, etc.  Not only are the items full size but the box has a minimum value of at least $100+ and the brands are a mixture of new brands to established brands you may already recognize.  The total cost is $21 per month and that includes shipping and you can cancel at any time.  I have been subscribed for 7 months and have not regretted it!  I’ve included a link so you can check it out and subscribe, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

So, let’s talk about what was in this months box.  I have not tried anything out yet as I just got the box in the mail last night,  but here are my thoughts…

Vintage Highlighter Double – Chocolate Diamond & Rose Quartz  – $35 value – I am so excited to try the Vintage Highlighter Double.  I already have one of their highlighters in Rose Gold that is so beautiful on the skin so I’m hoping these duo colors will be just as amazing.

Pur Mineral Glow Bronzing Powder – $25 value  – Pur is a brand I know and love and I’ve never tried their bronzers before so I’m super happy about that being in the box this month.  I also just hit pan on my ride or die bronzer Physcians Formula Butter Bronzer so that was pretty good timing.

So Susan Fan Brush – $18.95 value – I was not overly excited about the fan brush as I already have an E.L.F. one that I love, however this brush feels like such a good quality brush, much better feeling that the ones i currently have, so I will give it a shot.  Really you can never have enough make up brushes right?!

Gorge Amazing Konjac Sponge – $18 value – This item couldn’t have come at a better time because I just had to trash the konjac sponge I was using because it was so old.

NOTE: I can’t verify the info or value of this item at the moment as their website says they are under new management and there are tons of recent customer complaints/negative reviews stating they were charged for products that they didn’t receive and that they have received no answer from customer service for resolution or refund… (hmmm, even if I love this konjac sponge I will NOT be buying anything from them as that is already sending up red flags to me as a consumer but I’ll try it out since it came in this months box)

English Laundry Pour Femme Deluxe Roller Ball  – $25 value  – I was a little unhappy at first to see a roller ball perfume in the box because I was so worried it was going to be a fragrance that I wouldn’t love as I’m very particular when it comes to perfumes and fragrance.  Surprisingly I love the scent!  I’m packing it in my gym bag today and am planning to try it out since I will be showering & getting ready at the gym this evening.  (That process is a whole blog entry by itself but I digress)

NOTE: I can’t find the option to buy this roller ball in this particular fragrance by itself but it is a part of a $45 roller ball set that is available for purchase on their website.

Now on to the total value of this months box…

Basically according to my research and the product info card that comes in each box, this box has a total value of $121.95 worth of beauty products that I only paid $21 for!  I feel that is a total steal deal and after using the products I will really know if I love or hate them.  I have found in the past when you get a sample size or delux mini size that there isn’t enough product for you to try to really know if you love or hate it and if it works for you.

Once again Boxycharm didn’t disappoint.  I have yet to have a month where I was completely unsatisfied with the box.  Maybe there have been a couple of items here or there that I already had or knew wouldn’t work for me but that’s true of any subscription.  So for month 7 I am still satisfied and have no plans to cancel by subscription anytime soon.

So have you tried Boxycharm yet?  If you have, what do you think of it?  Have you been happy with what you have received and the value?  If not, why?  Fill me in!  Comment below or leave a link to your review posts.

If you haven’t tried Boxycharm yet, you so should!  Click the link above or click here if you are interested.

NOTE: I’ve heard that it’s difficult to get if you aren’t in the US so if you are outside of the US I apologize for raving about something you may not be able to get easily or affordably.

Until next time,

XOXO Crazy Jess

Target Beauty Box!

The coveted and hard to get Target Beauty Box is now available! Go to their website to place your orders today for the June 2016 Box. Looking like it will be a good box this month.

Also new this month is the Target Men’s Beauty Box. It’s a great value for the price but I didn’t order one for hubby because we still have plenty of men’s products left in our stockpile. It is very beneficial for him to have a wife whom coupons. 😜

Until next time,

xoxo

Boxycharm May 2016

I recently signed up to receive a monthly Boxycharm beauty box. I was reluctant at first because it is $21 a month.   What initially intrigued me about this subscription box however is that each month you receive 4-5 full size items rather than just sample or delux sample size items like so many of the other subscription boxes.

I received my box in the mail over the weekend and am just now getting around to posting about it. So here is what I received:

In total I received five full size items. I was pretty excited about that. Also, I had not heard of some of these brands before which is even better.

Regarding product value, again I only paid $21 (including shipping) and received:

Blinc Eyelash Primer ($26 value)

OFRA Liquid Lipstick in the color “Pasadena” ($19.90 value)

Pur-lisse Daily Lip Nourisher ($16 value)

Your Minerals Sweden eyeshadow in the color “Brown Hypnotik” ($23 value)

Anderson Lily Beach Butter Hand Cream ($24 value)

$108.90 in total product value for only $21!!!  I’d say this box is a win so far and one of my new favorites!

One of my favorite items is the hand cream. It smells amazing!  It’s super moisturizing but not greasy. It’s perfect to sit on your desk and use throughout the day and it smells tropical and like the fragrance of summer trapped in a tube.

Overall I’d say this box has been a win with a great value with a great price. I’m super excited to see what is in next months box. What’s even better is that I actually think I would actually use all of the products in this box (which I can’t say that for some of my other recent subscriptions).

Have your tried Boxycharm?  If yes, did you like it?  If not, what are you waiting for??!!  If you used to in the past but have cancelled your subscription what made you decide to cancel?

Until next time,

XOXO,

Wal-Mart Beauty Box

So today I received my second Wal-Mart beauty box. If you aren’t familiar with their boxes, they are only $5 I believe and they are quarterly/seasonal rather than monthly. The price point is pretty good I feel like and that does include shipping. However much like the Winter box I’m not impressed with what I received.

Being that their boxes are seasonal or quarterly (which in a sense would still be seasonal) I guess I just expected to receive new products or spring/summer items like I did with Target’s box.   I just expected to be more impressed than what I was.

Here is what was in my box:

I don’t get it. This is just a box of random crap I’ve been able to buy at Wal-Mart for years. No new brands to try or new products to try (except the Burts Bees Bb Cream sample). It to me feels like a random box of crap from the travel toiletries section of the store. Maybe I’m being too critical. I mean obviously in comparison to Target, Glossybox, Ipsy and FabFitFun I shouldn’t have expected too much. But I just feel like Wal-Mart could do so much better than this. I’m disappointed but only out $5 so not the end of the world I guess.

It is cool that the box did have a sample of the Burts Bees BB Cream though. If I have to choose one positive thing I guess that would be it and I’m really reaching here.

I can always use whitening toothpaste but what is special or exciting about Colgate Optic White?  I’ve been using it for forever. So…thanks I guess?

Also, I think what annoyed me the most was receiving a John Freida product for brunettes when I’m a blonde (albeit a fake blonde but still! Lol).  I’ve always been a blonde. I don’t remember if I had to fill out a survey when I signed up where you enter your hair color and complexion. So if I didn’t then they really shouldn’t send items that are hair color specific. But if I did fill out a survey and indicated I was a blonde then it still doesn’t make sense to me why I got this.

I’m just not feeling this box and think I will be cancelling any future box deliveries. It’s just not worth it to me. Am I being too critical?

Are you a Wal-Mart Beauty Box subscriber?  What did you think about your box?  If you aren’t, what do you think about what I received?  Would you want to pay $5 for this box?

Until next time,

XOXO,

Glossybox April 2016

Maybe you are tired of seeing my posts about beauty boxes this week. It’s cool. I get it. But the middle of the month just happens to be the time when all my beauty bags/boxes typically arrive. So I’m going to be posting my thoughts as they arrive.  So deal with it.

Yesterday I received the April 2016 Glossybox. I have only had a subscription for a short time as in this is only my 2nd box I’ve ever received. It’s $21 a month and is filled with 5 delux size sample and/or full size beauty items. It seems that GB gives you more full size items than other subscriptions so far but it’s only been two months so maybe that won’t continue. We will wait and see.

So here is my box for the month:

The first months box was packaged perfectly with a perfectly tied black bow around the tissue paper. This month it looked like they threw my stuff in the box and forgot to tie it up and seal the paper with the usual Glossybox decal they typically use. But that is not a deal breaker for me. I just really enjoyed the presentation of the first months box and kind of expected it going forward. I’m interested to see how it will be next month. That is just a minor detail though and did not affect the quality of the box or the items I received.

On to what was in the box…

My box included:

Unani Dermo Defense Face Mask (3.4oz Full Size) value of $18

Leighton Denny Expert Nails Nail Polish in the color Pillow Talk. (.4 oz Full Size) value of $19

Alterna Haircare Cavier Cc Cream Extra Hold (.85oz sample size) Full Size = $25 (est. value of $8.50)

Studio 10 Brow Lift Perfecting Liner (Full Size) value of $20

Biossance The Nourisher Precious Rose Face Oil (1 oz) Full Size = $72 (est. value of $10)

So basically I paid $21 (includes shipping) for $75 worth of products. Not too bad. I never would have tried any of these brands and haven’t heard of them actually until receiving this box this month.

Another plus about the box this month is that three of my five items were full size. I am actually super excited about what I received as well.

My brief thoughts on the products:

I’ve already tried the eyebrow pencil and love it. I’m very excited to try the face oil and hope it doesn’t break me out. Not sure how I feel about the hair CC cream but willing to give it a try. The nail polish is a beautiful color but I haven’t tried it yet since my nails are painted the purple color I received from my Ipsy bag this month currently so thoughts on that will be posted later.

I think I’m the most excited about the face mask. It smells amazing but it actually smells pretty strong considering its for sensitive skin. So we will see how it goes. Fingers crossed my skin reacts well to it.

So far I’d say this months box is another win and I will continue my subscription for a little while longer.  April has been a good beauty bag/box subscription month so far!
